Investing In The Future
Contributing to the education and training of tomorrow’s leaders in the fields of financial and risk management is one of the best investments we believe we can make. By providing grants for student research programs at leading universities, Gerstein Fisher is investing in the future of finance.
We believe that one of the most effective ways to advance the Center’s mission of connecting leading-edge academic research to practical application for individual investors is in conjunction with some of the great young minds at leading universities. Through our Research Scholars program, we provide grants to the top echelon of undergraduate and graduate-level students at select universities to work on investment research projects that bridge the gap between theory and practice in the areas of economics, finance and risk management.
Research projects are jointly supervised by Gerstein Fisher investment professionals and university faculty. Gerstein Fisher provides students with real-world research practice, access to market data and technological resources, mentoring, and research feedback, with many participants coming to our offices in New York to work directly with our Investment Strategy Group on projects, some for extended periods as interns. This program also enables Gerstein Fisher to identify top emerging talent as we look to grow our own team for the future.
To date, Research Scholar programs have been awarded to students within the Finance and Risk Engineering (FRE) program at the New York University School of Engineering, the State University of New York at Buffalo’s School of Management’s department of Finance and Managerial Economics and the University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of Business Practicum in Finance. We will continue to expand our Research Scholars program as we identify opportunities to do so through our deep network of Academic Partners.
Gerstein Fisher leverages research insights generated through this program to the benefit of our clients and shares findings, whenever applicable, with clients and a broader base of investors in keeping with our belief that an educated investor is a better investor.
